High School Diploma Program

diploma

The flexibility of our independent study program allows students to earn their diploma at any time of the year, from anywhere in the world. The Independent Study High School offers a high school graduation ceremony for graduates and is held annually at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln campus.

In order to earn a diploma from the Independent Study High School, students must earn a minimum of 200 credit hours (20 units).

Diploma students planning to attend college after high school should follow the college-preparatory diploma track. Students preparing for vocational or technical school, work, or other non-college plans may wish to consider the general diploma track. Either option requires the same number of credits to graduate, as well as the same subject areas. College prep courses involve more writing assignments within the courses to prepare students for the writing skills expected at the college level.
